Turnovers plague BPCC Lady Cavaliers in 102-64 loss to PJC Lady Dragons

BOSSIER CITY, La. - The Paris Junior College Lady Dragons took advantage of 34 Bossier Parish turnovers to cruise to a 102-64 victory over the Lady Cavaliers at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gymnasium Saturday.

PJC placed five players in double figures, including Alaeh Pressley who poured in a game-high 22 points for the Lady Dragons. Jaicia Canady scored 19 points, while Skye Watts had 16, Nikki Green added 15 and Ariel Warren finished with 12.

The Lady Dragons took control of the game in the first quarter outscoring the Lady Cavaliers 24-18 in the first frame. PJC maintained led 45-27 at halftime, then outscored BPCC 57-37 in the second half, including 32-20 in the fourth quarter.

The lone bright spot for the Lady Cavaliers was sophomore Alexandria Pollard, who registered the first triple-double of her career. Pollard scored 17 points, pulled down a season-high 22 rebounds, and set a school record with 11 blocked shots. Already BPCC's career leader in blocked shots with 136, Pollard broke Charity Robinson's record of 10 blocks against Coastal Bend in 2015.

With the win, PJC improves to 7-15 on the season and 5-7 in Region XIV, while the loss drops BPCC to 3-20 and 1-11 in region play. The Lady Cavs return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 12 when they travel to Jacksonville, Texas to take on the Jacksonville College Jaguars. Tip-off is schedule for 5:30 p.m.
