Strong second half lifts Tyler to 92-70 win over Bossier Parish

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Tyler Junior College outscored Bossier Parish Community College 50-29 in the second half to lift the ninth-ranked Apaches to a 92-70 win over the Lady Cavaliers at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gym Saturday.

TJC jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but after a timeout, the Lady Cavaliers rallied to tie the game and eventually take a 23-22 lead after the first quarter. BPCC maintained the lead throughout most of the second quarter until a late run by TJC gave the Apaches a 42-41 halftime lead. Coming out of the lockerroom after the brak, the Apaches took control of the game outscoring the Lady Cavaliers by nine points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth.

Four TJC players reached double figures, inlcuding Te'Aire Hambrick, who led the way with 19 points. Niya McGuire scored 18, while Kharisima Brown had 17 and Felmas Koranga added 16.

BPCC also had four players in double figures, including Gabby Dodson, who posted her second double-double of the season by scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Autumn Goram was the Lady Cavaliers leading scorer in the game with 19 points. Lauren Walker and Chasidy Ross each scored 11 points in the losing effort.

With the win, TJC improves to 10-2 and 2-0 in Region XIV, while the loss keep BPCC winless at 0-7 and 0-1 in region play. The Lady Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 11 when they travel to Paris, Texas to take on the Paris Junior College Dragons.
