Lady Cavaliers defeat Lady Bears 7-2 in game one of Monday's doublehader

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers defeated the Baton Rouge Community College Lady Bears, 7-2, in game one of Monday's non-conference doubleheader.

BPCC scored at least one run through the first five innings. Uchenna Jong Loy, who was named the Hitter-of-the-Week by the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association, got things started for the Lady Cavs with a solo homer in the first inning. Jong Loy is tied for the NJCAA Div. I lead in home runs with 23.

Two other Lady Cavaliers homered in the game, including Precious Aholelei, who went deep in the fourth inning, and Edriani Berges who belted her first home run of the season in the fifth inning.

Kiana Pogroszewski went three and a third innings, allowed one run on three hits over three while walking three and striking out three. Mabry Smith, who was named the LSWA Pitcher-of-the-week, came on in the fourth and allowed one run, one walk and fanned four to earn the win and improve to 9-1 on the season.

Kelsie Bell Etheridge went the distance for BRCC, tossing seven innings, allowing 12 hits and seven runs while walking one.

Haylee Ladner, Jong Loy, and Dyllan Sanay all had multiple hits for the Lady Cavaliers.
