Bossier Parish Community College infielder Dyllan Sanay and Southeastern Louisiana right-handed pitcher Heather Zumo are the recipients of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association softball player awards for April 5-11, the LSWA announced Tuesday.

Sanay was named the LSWA Hitter of the Week, and Zumo was chosen Pitcher of the Week.

The awards are based on nominations and voting by the state's college softball publicists, who are not permitted to vote for their own players. Athletes from four- and two-year colleges are eligible for the awards.  

About Bossier Parish's Dyllan Sanay:
• Freshman from Honolulu and a graduate of Campbell High School in Ewa Beach, Hawaii . . . plays second base.
• Week: Hit .583 (7-for-12) with eight RBIs, seven runs, a double, two home runs, two walks and one hit-by-pitch during the Lady Cavaliers' 4-0 week.
• Homered in both victories at SAU Tech and had five RBIs in the second game.
• Season: Hitting .423 (44-for-104) with 10 extra-base hits, five home runs, 21 RBIs, on-base .535, slugging .635, 41 runs.
• Bossier Parish is 31-5 with a school-record 20 straight wins and a No. 10 national ranking.
• Next for the Lady Cavaliers: 2 p.m. Thursday doubleheader at Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant.

About Southeastern Louisiana's Heather Zumo:
• Senior pitcher from Baton Rouge, La., and a graduate of Central High School.
• Pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts in a 3-2 victory against McNeese to open a three-game Southland Conference series.
• Week: 13 1/3 innings, 1-0 record, 1.05 ERA . . . seven hits, three runs, two earned runs, two walks, 13 strikeouts, three games, one complete game.
• Season: 13-2 record, 1.98 ERA . . . 26 games, 14 starts, seven complete games, 113 strikeouts, 84 hits and 39 walks in 109 1/3 innings.
• SLU is 23-14 overall, 12-3 Southland (third place out of 12 teams).
• SLU won 3-of-4 times this past week, including a home victory against Mississippi State.
• Zumo is SLU's second LSWA softball recipient this season; Audrey Greely was Hitter of the Week for March 29-April 4.
• Next for the Lady Lions: 6 p.m. Wednesday at No. 14 Louisiana-Lafayette.
