BPCC sweeps doubleheader from PJC, runs streak to 20 games and earns Nordberg her 200th win

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Uchenna Jong Loy's 2-run home run capped off a six-run sixth inning for the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers giving them a 13-4 run-rule victory and doubleheader sweep of the Paris Junior College Lady Dragons Saturday at the BPCC Softball Field.

Jong Loy's walk-off home run, her 18th of the season, helped the Lady Cavaliers extend their winning streak to 20 games and gave head coach Amanda Nordberg her 200th win at BPCC.

BPCC pounded out 11 hits in the game, including getting multi-hit games from Jong Loy, Dyllan Sanay, Kennedy Cox and Precious Aholelei. Jong Loy also had a team-high four RBIs in the game.

Primrose Aholelei earned the win for BPCC by tossing six innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out a season-high 13. Aholelei is now 11-2 on the season with a 2.48 ERA. She's ninth in the NJCAA Division I rankings with an incredible 10.24 strikeouts-per-seven-innings ratio.

PJC's Destiny Whitburn, who is tied for the NJCAA Division I lead in home runs with 19, went 2-for-2 in the game with a home run and four RBIs. Whitburn was also the starting pitcher for the Lady Dragon but lasted just an inning and a third after allowing three runs on one hit and two walks.

With the doubleheader sweep, BPCC improves to 31-5 overall and 14-0 in Region XIV. The two losses drops PJC 19-19 overall and 7-7 in region play. The Lady Cavaliers travel to Athens, Texas on April 12 for a doubleheader with Trinity Valley. The Lady Cardinals are 24-8 overall and 9-5 in Region XIV.
