LSU Eunice earns doubleheader sweep of Bossier Parish with a 5-4 walkoff win in game two

EUNICE, La. - LSU Eunice, the No. 2 ranked team in NJCAA Div. II, completed the doubleheader sweep of the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers with a 5-4 walkoff win in game two of Tuesday's doubleheader at Lady Bengal Field. With the game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh, LSUE's Madison Monson doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring Kelci Bodin with the winning run. Bodin had reached on a leadoff walk.

The Lady Bengals got on the board in the first inning when Abbey Higginbotham doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. The Lady Cavaliers put up three runs in the fourth inning. BPCC's big inning was started on Abi Cole's sacrifice which scored Ruby Butler. Haley Ebey's two-run home run gave the Lady Cavaliers a 3-1 lead at point. However, the Lady Bengals would respond in the bottom of the inning with a pair of runs on a BPCC error and a double.

Jenna James was in the pitcher's circle for the Lady Cavaliers. She went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out two. Leann Franks threw one and one-third innings out of the bullpen.

With the doubleheader sweep LSUE impoves to 30-5 on the season, while the two losses drops BPCC to 21-6 overall. The Lady Cavaliers return to NJCAA Region XIV play on Thursday when they play host to the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the BPCC Softball Field.
