Bossier Parish wins a 3-2 thriller over McLennan in the nightcap

BOSSIER CITY - With McLennan having the tying and go-ahead runners on base, Bossier Parish relief pitcher Dorrie Cormier was able to induce a fly out and a ground out to preserve a thrilling 3-2 win, and a doubleheader sweep for the Lady Cavaliers.

With the game tied at one in the bottom of the fourth inning, BPCC second baseman Abi Cole and shortstop Ruby Butler delivered back-to-back two-out RBI singles to put the Lady Cavaliers in front 3-1. Cole's single scored pinch runner Kaylea Burgess, while Butler's base hit plated Emily Hardy. Burgess was running for first baseman Merina Mills, who had reach on a hit-by-pitch, while Hardy had reached on a walk.

Cormier came on in relief of starter Jenna James in the sixth. A native of Orange, Texas, James allowed two runs and seven hits over five and two-thirds innings. She walked two and fanned three to earn the victory. Cormier, who's a product of Acadiana High School, gave up one hit, one walk and struck out one in earning the save.

Cole, and left fielder Rebecca Shepherd each collected two hits and a RBI in the game.

With the doubleheader sweep, BPCC improves its record to 7-0 on the season, while the two losses drops McLennan's record to 8-6.
