The BPCC Cavaliers (11-8, 5-5) came up short 87-72 in their road game to Athens, TX against Trinity Valley on Saturday afternoon. The loss caused a huge logjam between sixth and tenth place in the Region XIV standing. A game difference separates all five teams. The Cavaliers sit in a tie for seventh place with Navarro College (11-9, 5-5) and Trinity Valley (10-9, 5-5).
The Cardinals took a 22-point first-half lead, BPCC tried to close the gap outscoring TVCC 41-34 but the gap was too large to overcome.
Despite the loss, Freshman Jaeden Marshall scored a Cavalier high 25 points. Marshall was hot beyond the arc hitting 4 of 7. Marshall grabbed 6 defensive rebounds and 7 overall. Christian Caldwell also had a strong shooting night shooting 6 for 7 from the field and collecting 14 points. Kendrick Delahoussaye also had 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Adrian Walker became a defensive nuisance for the Cardinals with 5 defensive rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Da'Reion Jones also helped defensively by making 4 defensive rebounds in 5 total.
The Cavaliers will look to move up in the standing as they face Navarro College on Wednesday, January 26th.
