TVCC Cardinals use strong second half to surge past BPCC Cavaliers 77-69 Wednesday

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Trinity Valley Community College outscored Bossier Parish Community College 45 to 36 in the second half in capturing a 77-69 win Wednesday night at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gymnasium.

In a back-and-forth affair that had 18 lead changes and 10 ties, it was three consecutive possessions late in the game in which the Cavaliers turned the ball over that cost them a chance to pull of the win. TVCC took advantage of those turnovers on the opposite end of the court stretching its lead to 10 points in the final minute of the game. Despite outrebounding TVCC 49-39, BPCC's 18 turnovers were the Cavaliers undoing.

Trinity Valley guard Trevon Fuller was the leading scorer in the game as he scored 21 points. Fuller was 6-for-15 from the floor, including 5-for-12 from beyond the arc, and he was 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Deshawn Davis and Anderson Mirambeaux were the only other Cardinals in double figures with 17 and 10 points, respectively. BPCC guards Paul King and Avery Martinez each had 20 points for the Cavaliers in the losing effort.

With the win, TVCC improves to 4-1 in Region XIV, while the loss drops BPCC to 2-3 in region play. The Cavaliers hit the road for their next three games starting Saturday at Jacksonville College followed by trips to Navarro on Feb. 10 and at Victoria on Feb. 13.
