Navarro surges past Bossier Parish in second half to win 87-72

BOSSIER CITY - The Navarro College Bulldogs took full advantage of Bossier Parish's second half foul trouble to surge past the Cavaliers 87-72 here at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gym Wednesday night.

When BPCC's Jason Holliday fouled out of the game less than halfway through the second half, Navarro wasted little time turning a five-point lead into a 20-point advantage. With two other Cavaliers, Mikail Simmons and Eric Parrish, in foul trouble, Navarro attacked BPCC's front court using its size and strenght advantage. That led to a number of dunks and easy baskets for the Bulldogs, and allowed them to lead by as much as 21 down the stretch.

All five Bulldogs starters reached double figures, including Trey Pulliam and Ja'Quaye James, who each scored 16 points. Paris Harris came off the bench to lead the Cavs with 16 points, while E.J. Clark scored 14, Holliday 13 and Erie Olonade chipped in with 11.

With the win, Navarro improves to 20-5 overall and 10-4 in Region XIV play. The Bulldogs are now hold a half game lead in the Eastern Division over Tyler Junior College and Trinity Valley Community College. The loss drops BPCC to 18-7 overall and 7-7 in region play.
