BPCC Baseball Sweeps DH With Hill College

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavalier Baseball team swept the doubleheader with the Hill College Rebels February 9th to bring their record to 6-1 on the year. BPCC won game 1 by a score of 8-5 and game 2 by a score of 8-7.

 

In game 1 there were multiple Cavaliers that had a multi-hit game. Bennett Mittelsteadt the former Tuerlings Catholic Rebel had 2 hits, Hayden Stringfellow, Adam Garcia and former local Northwood High standout Luke Bogan can all be added to the list. A long with the hits came homeruns from Luke Bogan and Hayden Stringfellow.

 

In game 2 the Hill College Rebels jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead over the Cavs but as the game went on the BPCC Baseball team battled their way back into the game. Luke Bogan homered in the 7th inning which ultimately sparked the offense. The offense for the Cavs scored 8 runs in the final 5 innings and a late clutch homerun by Adam Garcia gave the Cavs what they would need to in fact take the lead and go on to win the game. On the pitching side of Game 2 Jake Guidry threw a dominant 2 innings with 5 strikeouts to collect the win.

 

Through two weeks of the season the Cavaliers are #1 in the country in homeruns (23), #1 in the country in slugging percentage (.811), 2nd in extra base hits (40) and 2nd in batting average (.387).

 

Emil Estrella, the BPCC sophomore leads the country in homeruns with 6 and Luke Bogan is 2nd in the country with 5. Stringfellow and Garcia each have 3.

 

The next home game will be Thursday February 15th at 1 pm against the Eastern Oklahoma State Mountaineers.
