Cavaliers Take Both Games Against South Arkansas CC

Bossier City, La- The Cavaliers won both games this weekend against the South Arkansas Community College Stars. The bats were hot the first night as the Cavs routed the Stars by a score of 16-4. A strong 3rd inning for the Cavs in which they scored seven runs is all that would be needed to take the victory. Ryan McClish got the win as he went two innings giving up zero hits, three strike outs and walking only one. Joshua Miller, Jackson Schwank, and Austin Breedlove all gave innings out of the bullpen to keep the Stars offense at bay. The Cavs offense exploded for thirteen hits. Emil Estrella and Sonny Rao both homered, Aidan Welsh, Dre Amaral and Connor Crowson all had multiple hits as well.

In the second game the offense was led by Nick Gray with two hits. Seth Gurr got the start for the Cavs and went two and a thirds innings. The righty gave up three hits, struck out three and allowed zero runs. Trevor Wall got the win for the Cavs as he went two innings, gave up three hits, surrendered two runs, while striking out and walking one. Jeb Drewery, Brandon Carter and Garrett Lott all saw innings out of the bullpen and surrended zero runs. The final score of game two was 5-2 in favor of the Cavaliers.
Thoughts from Coach Gilliam:

"It was exciting to see the offense come alive Saturday night and for us to get the win. South Arkansas did a good job Sunday coming in with a plan to attack our hitters, and pitch them a little differently than the previous game. I think our guys made the adjustments when it mattered and our bullpen really got it going which was great to see. There were a lot of positives from this weekend for sure and also some things we still need to work on. We are excited to get to go play a good team this next weekend as Hill College comes to town for a two game set."

The Cavaliers will be back in action at home February 11th as they take on Hill College for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
