Navarro eliminates Bossier Parish with an 8-0 run rule victory in sub-regional finals

TYLER, Texas - With an 8-0 run-rule win, No. 1 seed Navarro College eliminated No. 3 seed Bossier Parish from the Region XIV East Sub-Regional Tournament Sunday at Irwin Field at UT Tyler Ballpark.

Back-to-back doubles by NC's Tallon Heine and Cash Rugely in the bottom of the seventh ended the game and BPCC's season. The run-rule victory was the second of the tournament for the Bulldogs over the Cavaliers.

Bulldogs starting pitcher Chad Ricker turned in a 7-inning, complete game shut out. Ricker did not allow a run and gave up just five hits while walking one and fanning eight to earn the win.

Logan Ellinwood, a Captain Shreve product who was starting his first game of the season for the Cavaliers, was tagged with the loss after giving up a three-run home run to NC first baseman Josh Dyer in the second inning. BPCC used five other pitchers in the game, including game one starter Zachary Saint Pierre, who returned after just one day of rest. Through one and two-thirds innings of work, St. Pierre did not allow a run and struck out three before before being removed after getting hit with a line drive off the bat of Rugely.

After scoring three runs in the second, Navarro added one in the fifth and three in the sixth. The three-run sixth came on just two hits, three free passes and one Cavalier error.

With the sub-regional win, Navarro will face San Jacinto in the super regional to see who will advance to the JUCO World Series. With the loss, BPCC ends its season at 23-22, which is the program's second winning season in three years.
