Depth, Defense Power Cavaliers to Victory

BOSSIER CITY – A blistering offensive pace and stifling defense propelled BPCC to a commanding 113–69 win over the Barksdale Bombers on Tuesday night.

The Cavaliers spread the offense across its lineup, with Drew Cooper and Tony Montgomery each posting 13 points to lead a balanced attack. Dustin Welch followed with 12 points, Zequan Lewis added 11, and Mazi Lumori scored 10. Antonis Kalavros, Drin Tafilaj and Darnell Morris each finished with nine. Tafilaj pulled down a team-high six rebounds, while Yoav Botzer steered the offense efficiently with five assists and just one turnover. Lewis sparked the defensive surge with seven steals.

The Cavaliers (4–1) built a commanding 63–36 cushion by halftime and continued to widen the gap as the night went on. Twelve players scored, and all but one member of the 14-man roster saw extended action.

Following the final buzzer, both teams met at halfcourt for a photo to commemorate the night and celebrate the camaraderie between BPCC, Barksdale Air Force Base and the military community.

“It was an honor to have the real heroes in our gym – the men on the Barksdale Air Force Base Team!” said first-year BPCC coach Jeff Moore. “My father served in the Army before he played college basketball – so nothing but respect for those that serve our country, and appreciation for these patriots to take the court and help us develop our team.”

BPCC hosts Southwest Mississippi Community College on Friday, Nov. 21, at 6:30pm. The Cavaliers then turn their attention to the Fourth Annual Decari Markray Classic next Monday and Tuesday before opening Region XIV play on the road Saturday, Dec. 3, at Paris Junior College.
