Hot shooting Rangers too much for Cavaliers

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Hot shooting Kilgore was too much for Bossier Parish to overcome as the Rangers defeated the Cavaliers 94-76 Sunday at the Coach Billy Mongtomery Gymnasium. The Rangers shot 58 percent for the game, but connected on an incredible 59 percent of its three-pointers (13-22) to win its second straight game over the Cavaliers.

Kilgore gaurd KJ Jenkins led all scorers with 26 points. He was 9-for-14 from the field, including 8-for-12 from beyond the arc. Guard Dantwan Grimes added 20 points and forward Godwin Illumoka chipped in with 10.

Three Cavaliers reached double figures, including Fahmmi Mamo and Tutu Majok, who each scored 19 points, while Paul King scored 11.

In the first half, Kilgore connected on 59 percent (11-of-24) of its shots from the field and 60 percent (6-of-10) of its threes to take a 49-36 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Rangers nearly equaled those percentage in the second half, shooting 57 percent from the floor and 58 percent from beyod the arc. Kilgore was 13-of-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line in the game.

With the win, Kilgore improves to 13-5 and moves into a tie for second place with Panola in the Region XIV standings. The loss drops BPCC to 8-11 in region play.

The Cavaliers have two games during this final week of the regular season, Wed., March 31 at home against Blinn College, then Sat., April 3 at Paris Junior College. The Region XIV Tournament runs April 5-10 at John Alexander Gym in Jacksonville, Texas.
