Poor shooting night plagues BPCC Cavaliers as they fall to Navarro Bulldogs 65-52

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Navarro College's size and length, particularly on defense, caused a poor shooting night by the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers, which led to a 65-52 Bulldogs win.

BPCC shot just 33.9 percent (20-59) from the field and made just 27.3 percent (6-22) of its three-pointers. The Cavaliers were also out-rebounded by the Bulldogs 46-32 in the game. Every time the Cavaliers would draw within three points, the Bulldogs would respond with a run and up the lead to double digits. Leading 25-20 at halftime, the Bulldogs came out hot in the second half and built up as much as a 19-point lead.

Navarro was led by German Kasanzi, who scored a game-high 17 points, on a 6-for-8 shooting night, including 5-for-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. Tyrese Ross was the only other Bulldog to reach double figures as he scored 14 points.

E.J. Clark led BPCC with 16 points and Will LaPoole added 11 in the losing effort.

With the win, Navarro improves to 12-7 overall and 6-2 in Region XIV, while the loss drops BPCC to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in region play.On Saturday, Jan. 18, the Cavaliers travel to Paris, Texas to take on the Paris Junior College Dragons. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Hunt Physical Education Center.
