BPCC guard Monette Bolden signs with Louisiana Tech University

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Bossier Parish Community College guard Monette Bolden signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters on Thursday, Apr. 18, in the BPCC-Lousiana Tech Building H on campus.

In front of faculty, staff, friends, coaches and teammates, Bolden, a sophomore from Abbeville, La., inked her name to the NLI and the scholarship papers with Louisiana Tech.

BPCC athletic director John Rennie, who recruited and coached Bolden at BPCC, thinks Bolden is the biggest signee to come out of the BPCC women's basketball program. "Mo is arguably the greatest player in Lady Cavaliers basketball history," said Rennie. "She surpasses Diamond Willis, who played at UNC Wilmington, as the highest profile signee in the the program's six-year history. When you consider the incredible history of Louisiana Tech Lady Techster basketball, this is a huge moment for Mo and for Lady Cavs basketball."

A product of Erath High School, Bolden scored a career-high 38 points against Kilgore College on Feb. 27, 2019. Her 38 points marked the sixth time she scored 30 or more points in a game during the 2018-19 season. Bolden averaged 22.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this season. She scored in double figures in 56 career games, including all 31 games this season. She was the second leading scorer in Region XIV and seventh in NJCAA Division.

Her 688 points this season ranks first on the school's single-season scoring list. Bolden is only the second Lady Cavalier to eclipse the 1,000-point mark in BPCC women's basketball history. She scored 1,157 points in her two-year BPCC career, which ranks second on the career points list.

Arguably the greatest player in the six-year history of the BPCC Lady Cavaliers basketball program, Bolden finishes her career having set or tied numerous season and career records, including going 16-for-16 from the free throw line versus No. 4 Trinity Valley on Feb. 20, 2019. She was a First-Team All-Region XIV selection, and a Second Team All-Louisiana seletion this season.
