NEW ORLEANS - Bossier Parish Community College guard Monette Bolden was named to the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association All-Louisiana Second-Team today. Voting was conducted by media members from Louisiana and the state's sports information directors.
A sophomore from Abbeville, La., Bolden scored a career-high 38 points against Kilgore College on Feb. 27, 2019. Her 38 points marked the sixth time she scored 30 or more points in a game during the 2018-19 season. "Mo" as she's known, averaged 22.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game this season. Bolden scored in double figures in 56 career games, including all 31 games this season. She was the second leading scorer in Region XIV and seventh in NJCAA Division I this season.
Her 688 points this past season ranks first on the school's single-season scoring list. Bolden is only the second Lady Cavalier to eclipse the 1,000-point mark in BPCC women's basketball history. She scored 1,157 points in her two-year BPCC career, which ranks second on the career points list.
Arguably the greatest player in the six-year history of the BPCC Lady Cavaliers basketball program, Bolden finishes her career having set or tied numerous season and career records, including going 16-for-16 from the free throw line versus No. 4 Trinity Valley.
