BPCC Lady Cavaliers win second straight game by beating Jacksonville College Lady Jaguars 83-65

BOSSIER CITY - The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers won their second straight game by beating the Jacksonville College Lady Jaguars 83-65 here Wednesday night at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gym.

BPCC guard Monette Bolden equaled a career high with 31 points to lead the Lady Cavaliers to victory. Bolden, a product of Erath High School, also pulled down 10 rebounds in the game to register her second double-double of the season. It's the fourth time this season Bolden has scored 30 or more points in a game, and it's the 50th time in her BPCC career she's reached double figures.

In a game that had 103-combined rebounds, neither team shot the basketball particularly well. However, the Lady Cavaliers were able to overcome a dismal shooting performance (29.3) in the first half with a much higher percentage (48.6) in the second half. The better second half shooting by BPCC allowed the Lady Cavaliers to increase their halftime lead of nine points (38-29) to as much as 20 in the second half, before eventually winning by 18 (83-65).

Bre Sha Richardson registered her sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Lady Cavs. Shaniyah Meneweather was the only other Lady Cavalier to reach double figures as she added 13 points. Nyenkeer Malwal, Ca'Leyah Burrell and McKayla Black were the only Lady Jaguars to reach double figures, scoring 13, 12 and 10 points respectively.

The 18-point win matches the Lady Cavs largest margin of victory in a game this season, which came in the season opener (85-67) at Baton Rouge Community College on Nov. 1, 2018. The win improves BPCC's overall record to 11-14 and 5-8 in Region XIV play. The 11 wins are the most for a Lady Cavaliers team since the 2015-16 team won 19 games. The loss drops Jacksonville to 1-17 and 0-13 in region play.
