Lady Cavaliers hang on for 79-72 win over Coastal Bend Cougars

BOSSIER CITY - The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers snapped its five-game losing skid with a 79-72 win over the Coastal Bend College Cougars here Saturday at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gymnasium. 

The Lady Cavaliers dominated the game from start to finish, maintaining a double-digit lead through most of the game, and leading by as much as 20 points in the second half. However, the Cougars did manage to cut the BPCC lead down to just four with two minutes remaining. CBC had a chance to get it even closer, but Cassie Hogan missed a layup which would've made it a one possession game. BPCC would make its free throws down the stretch to hang on for the 79-72 win. 

BPCC sophomore guard Monette Bolden led all scorers with 25 points. She also had 12 rebounds and eight assists in the game. It was Bolden's 47th career double figure game, but her first double-double of the season. Freshman forwar Bre Sha Richardson also had a double-double, her fifth of the season, by scoring 24 points and haulind down 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Alex Williams, who had 14 points, was the only other Lady Cavalier in double figures. 

Coastal Bend was led by guard Aubrey Guerra who scored 20 points, while Jad Mitchell added 19 in the losing effort. 

With the win, BPCC improves to 9-13 overall and 3-7 in Region XIV, while the loss drops Coastal Bend to 4-17 overall and 2-8 in region play. The Lady Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 6, when they host 14th-ranked Tyler Junior College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
