Hailey Pence's walk-off double lifts Bossier Parish to a 4-3 win over Paris

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Hailey Pence's two-out double scored Haylee Ladner to give the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers a dramatic 4-3 walk-off win over the Paris Junior College Lady Dragons in game one of Saturday's doubleheader at the BPCC Softball Field.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Ladner singled and went to second on a throwing error. After Kennedy Cox's lineout, Pence belted a 0-1 pitch to left field plating Ladner with the winning run.

PJC jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring a run in the first and two more in the third. BPCC tied the game in the bottom of the third on Ladner's three-run home run. A freshman from Buna, Texas, Ladner went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, including the game winner, and drove in three runs. Pence also went 2-for-4 in the game.

Sophomore Mabry Smith tossed two scoreless innings in relief of starter Kiana Pogroszewski to earn the win, her second of the week. Smith allowed just one hit and struck out five of the eight batters she faced.
