Callie Waller's pinch-hit RBI single lifts Navarro to a 5-4 win over Bossier Parish

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Callie Waller's pinch-hit RBI single in the top of the six inning scored Alanna Islas which gave the Navarro College Bulldgos a 5-4 win over the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers in game two of Wednesday's Region XIV doubleheader. Islas led off the inning with a double, and after a Jada Woolley flyout, Waller delivered the game-winning RBI.

Prior to Waller's heroics, all four of the Bulldogs runs came in the top of third inning. Navarro got two two-run home runs from Faith Fernandez and Benton, La. native Sarah Koeppen.

After scoring a run in the bottom of the third, the Lady Cavaliers would tie the game in the fifth. Rebecca Shepherd's second home run of the afternoon scored Ruby Butler, who had reached on a fielder's choice. Two batters later, Haily Ebey blasted a solo shot over the left field fence to tie the game.

NC's Lori Reue got the win in relief of start Brooklyn Smacker, who exited after giving up the two BPCC home runs in the fifth. Reue did not allow a hit and walked just one while striking out the final two batters of the game to preserve the win for the Bulldogs.

BPCC's Primrose Aholelei, who came on in relief of starter Kiana Pogroszewski, absorbed the loss. Aholelei scatttered five hits over four and two-thirds innings, while walking one and striking out three in the losing effort.

With the win, Navarro improves to 11-11 overall and 1-1 in Region XIV, while the loss drops BPCC to 20-7 overall and 1-1 in region play. The Lady Cavaliers return to action on Sat., March 14 when they travel to Tyler, Texas to take on the No. 5 Tyler Junior College Apaches.
