Rebecca Shepherd's drives in four runs to lead BPCC past BRCC 8-5

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Outfielder Rebecca Shepherd drove in four runs to lead the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers past the Baton Rouge Community College Bear 8-5 on Saturday on the second day of the BPCC Round Robin.

Shepherd's four RBI day came via a three-hit game, including a double and two home runs. The sophomore from Alexandria, La., paced the Lady Cavaliers offensive outburst which racked up 11 hits in the game. In addition to Shepherd's three hits, Hailey Pence and Ruby Butler also managed three hits.

Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers grabbed an early lead. Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers scored on a single by Haily Ebey in the first inning, a double by Hailey Pence in the first inning, a sacrifice fly by Nicollette Blenker in the first inning, and a home run by Shepherd in the second inning.

With the game tied at three in the bottom of the second, Shepherd gave BPCC a 5-3 lead with two-run blast on a 1-2 count. The Lady Cavaliers would score two more runs in the third and add a run in the fith to capture the 8-3 victory, their 11th straight.

Primrose Aholelei earned the win for BPCC as she went six innings, allowing five runs on 12 hits, striking out five and walking one.

With the win, BPCC improves to 18-6 on the season.
