In March 2020, Bossier Parish Community College named J.A. Anglin as the program’s interim head coach. He joined the Cavaliers after spending the 2019-20 season as the Director of Basketball Operations at the University of New Orleans.

On March 30, 2021, BPCC removed the interim tag, making Anglin the 6th head coach in program history.

During the recently completed 2022-23 season, the Cavaliers advanced to the quarterfinals of the Region XIV tournament for the second consecutive year. Seven student-athletes continued their basketball careers at four-year institutions. Freshman, Damani Claxton, signed an NCAA Division 1 scholarship to play at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Cavaliers ranked among Region XIV's best offensively for a second consecutive season, averaging 79.5 points per game.

BPCC received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for their excellence in the classroom over the 2022-23 academic year. The Cavaliers finished the academic year with a 3.13 team GPA, which ranked top 25 in the NJCAA. BPCC were one of six NJCAA programs to receive the NABC Team Excellence Award and the lone representative of Region XIV.

In the 2021-22 season, Anglin led the Cavaliers to a 16-14 mark and the program’s first win in the Region XIV tournament. In November, BPCC defeated No. 8 New Mexico Junior College 65-61 for Anglin’s first career victory over a NJCAA Top 10 opponent. The Cavaliers also earned a 109-101 overtime victory over No. 2 Kilgore College in January. BPCC finished the season as one of the top offensive teams in Region XIV, ranking 4th in field goal percentage (46.9%) and 5th in points per game (75.4).

As a true freshman, Jaeden Marshall ended the season as Region XIV’s scoring champion in Region XIV play (19.9 points per game and 378 total points). Baton Rouge native, Derick Hamilton finished the year ranked 4th nationally in field goal percentage (69.9%). Marshall (1st team) and Hamilton (honorable mention) earned All-Region XIV honors. Both Marshall (University of Nebraska Omaha) and Hamilton (University of Texas at El Paso) signed NCAA Division 1 scholarships.

In Anglin’s first year at the helm, the Cavaliers played a shortened season with only Region XIV contests. BPCC registered a 76-74 victory over No. 14 Panola College in February. It was the program’s first road win over a NJCAA Top 25 team in well over a decade. BPCC also won at Tyler Junior College for the first time since 2012. The Cavaliers’ 93-65 victory over Coastal Bend College was the largest margin of victory (28 points) in Region XIV play in program history.

Paul King (1st team), Tutu Majok (2nd team), and Fahmmi Mamo (honorable mention) earned All-Region XIV honors while Paul King (Alcorn State University) and Tutu Majok (University of Wisconsin-Green Bay) signed NCAA Division 1 scholarships.

In his two seasons at BPCC, Anglin has seen four student-athletes (Christian Caldwell, Tutu Majok, Trent Phillips, Jeremy Richard) earn Region XIV All Academic honors. Jeremy Richard was also named to the NJCAA All-Academic team after his freshman season.

In the 2019-20 season, Anglin worked under the University of New Orleans’ winningest coach, Mark Slessinger. The 2015-16 Warhawks were undefeated at home (13-0) and finished 15-5 in the Sun Belt Conference, moving to the championship game of the league tournament for the first time in school history.
