BOSSIER CITY, La. - Bossier Parish Community College freshman guard Paul King, who's the current Louisiana Sports Writer's Association Player-of-the-Week, continued his torrid scoring streak by pouring in a career-high 40 points to lead the Cavaliers to a 104-100 win over Creating Young Minds Academy, Wednesday at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gym.

Playing with only six healthy players, BPCC had to rely on King, and he did not dissappoint. The Monroe, La. native, connected on 15 of his 29 shots from the field, including 4-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc and went 6-of-7 from the free throw line.

King's 40 points came exactly a week after he scored 35 points against Trinity Valley. He scored 26 points on Sat., Feb. 22 at Panola.

The Cavaliers struggled against CYMA throughout most of the game, trailing by as much as 11 in the first half. The Yellow Jackets shot 54 percent in the first half and led 47-45 at the break. Despite 12 lead changes, BPCC would eventually take control of the game late, but had to withstand a late three-point barrage by CYMA to hang on for the four-point win.

In addition to King, three other Cavaliers reached double figures, including Alan Lang, who scored a career-high 21 points. Aaron Gregg added 16 and Allen Hatchett, Jr. had 11.

CYMA also had four players reach double figures. Lafayette, La. native, Xavier Ledet registered a double-double by scoring a team-high 30 points and pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds. Ledet also had seven assists in the game. J'Vone Martin chipped in with 28 points, while Tashawn Berry had 20 and Sean Walker finished with 17.

With the win, BPCC improves to 19-10 overall, which equals the Cavs' win total from a year ago. BPCC has not won 20 games in a season since the 2004-05 season, when that Cavaliers team coached by Louis Bonner finished 20-10.
