Jones Bobcats use smothering defense to hold off BPCC Cavaliers 70-60

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Jones College utilized a smothering defense to force a poor shooting night from Bossier Parish Community College and the Bobcats were able to hold off the Cavaliers 70-60 Saturday night at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gym.

The tough Bobcats defense forced the Cavaliers to shoot just 36.2 percent (21-58) from the field and just 20.8 percent (5-24) from beyond the 3-point arc. Couple that with subpar free throw shooting by the Cavaliers, just 61.9 percent (13-21), it allowed the Bobcats to capture the 70-60 road win.

Jones had three players score in double figures, including SharDarrion Allen, who scored a team-high 21 points. Tradavis Thompson scored 12 points, while Sai Fisher added 10.

BPCC's Diamante Brown scored a game-high 26 points in the losing effort. The 26-point outburst was a season-high for Brown, who has now reached double figures in four of the Cavaliers' five games.

With the win, Jones improves to 4-0 on the young season, while the loss drops BPCC to 3-2. The Cavaliers will play Lake Houston School of Business and Technology on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at home.
