BPCC’s Parrish and UL's Gant named Louisiana college basketball co-players of the month

BATON ROUGE – University of Louisiana forward Jakeenan Gant and Bossier Parish Community College swingman Eric Parrish were named the college basketball co-players of the month for November by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. The panel of voters were deadlocked on their votes for the two players.

The weekly selections for men's basketball will start next week.

Gant, averaged 17.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Ragin' Cajuns in going 4-3 to open the season, including scoring a season-high 19 points twice.

Parrish, averaged 22.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game to help the Cavaliers begin the season with a 6-0 record, which is the best start for a Bossier Parish team since before 2001.

Scored in double figures in all seven games played during the month of November for the Ragin' Cajuns, including a season-high 19 twice ... scored 18 points in back-to-back games against No. 6 Tennessee and No. 2 Kansas ... ranked among the Sun Belt Conference leaders in scoring, rebounds, field goal percentage while leading the league in blocked shots ... posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Tulane to conclude the Gulf Coast Showcase in Ft. Myers, Fla. ... the win by the Ragin' Cajuns was their first over the Green Wave since 1935 - a span of 12 games which included five meetings since the end of WWII

Averaged 22.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game to help the Bossier Parish Cavaliers begin the season with a perfect 6-0 record, which is the best start for a BPCC team since before 2001...registered five double-doubles in six games, including a triple-double, where he scored a season-high 35 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and dished out 10 assists...since signing with the University of Nevada, Parrish has averaged 28.6 points, 12.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists…he set season highs in points with 35, rebounds with 17 and assists with 10, which he's done twice…his 22 points and 17 rebounds helped the Cavaliers end the McLennan Highlanders seven-game winning streak over Bossier Parish.
