BOSSIER - Bossier Parish Community College sophomore guard Erie Olonade scored seven straight points in overtime to help lead the Cavaliers to a 98-87 win over the Baton Rouge Community College Bears here in the Billy Montgomery Gym. Olonade, a redshirt sophomore from Houston, was on the bench a good portion of the second half because of foul trouble. He came off the bench to give the Cavaliers a spark with three consecutive dribble-drive layups, inclulding a reverse where he was fouled, eventually completing the three-point play. He would finish the game with 18 points.

Trailing the Bears 78-76 in regulation, BPCC sophomore Mikail Simmons had a a chance to tie the game but missed two free throws. After a BRCC timeout, Simmons would make up for the missed free throws as he picked up the loose ball on the errant in-bounds pass, and using all of his 6'9" frame to leap forward to the goal, shooting the ball high up on the glass and into the basket for the tying points. The Bears would get a clean look for a buzzer beater, but Christian Jones' three-point attempt would miss off the front of the iron, and send the game to overtime.    

BPCC had four other players score in double figures, including sophomore guard Jason Holliday, who scored a game-high 27 points. Simmons finished the night with 16 points, while Eric Parrish added 15 and Paris Harris had 13, including six in the extra period.

With the win, the Cavaliers improve to 2-0 on the season, while the loss drops the Bears to 0-1. Bossier Parish will play Southern Arkansas University Tech at home on Saturday, Nov. 10.
