Bobby Gilliam completed his fifth season as the head coach of the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers with a 23-22 record, 11-14 in Region XIV Conference play.  BPCC reached the finals of the Region XIV East Tournament before falling to top-seed Navarro College.

Five Cavaliers earned NJCAA DI Region XIV First-Team All-Conference awards.  Freshman catcher Cole Ketzner was BPCC's lone representative on the All-Region XIV team, while first baseman Andrew Mills was selected to the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association's All-Louisiana Second-Team.

The Cavaliers not only had success on the field but excelled in the classroom as well. Eleven players off the 2021 received Region XIV All-Academic honors, while eight of those 11 earned NJCAA All-Academic honors, including pitcher Beau Ross, who was a First-Team honoree.

Nine players off the 2021 squad signed college scholarships, including pitcher Justin Lawson, who signed with NCAA DI College World Series participant North Carolina State.

BPCC finished the 2020 season 8-10, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in March.

The Cavaliers posted a 31-21 record during the 2019 season. The 31 wins by the Cavaliers were the most by a BPCC team in a decade. BPCC finished with a 14-16 record in Region XIV East Conference play.

Four Cavalier baseball players were selected to the Region XIV All-Region and All-Conference teams. After batting .411 during the season catcher Adrian Minjares was a First-Team All-Region XIV, First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-Louisiana selection. First baseman Hudson LaBorde, who signed with the University of New Orleans, was a First-Team All-Region XIV and Second-Team All-Conference, while shortstop Bobby Lada was First-Team All-Conference and third baseman Will Doughty was a Second-Team All-Conference selection. Second baseman Kanin Dodge, who was an Honorable Mention All-Conference, signed with Stephen F. Austin State University.

In 2018, BPCC finished with a 21-29 record. BPCC led Region XIV’s East Division in home runs with 69 during the regular season. Three players from the 2017 team moved to NCAA Division I schools this season, while a number of players signed scholarships with Top 10-ranked NCAA Division II schools.

Under Gilliam, the BPCC baseball facilities have seen significant improvements including the building of a new locker room facility, which houses both the baseball and softball teams. He’s overseen the building of a new batting cage equipped with artificial turf and lighting, a new press box and turf halo around the batters circle and a new aluminum outfield fences was added to the baseball field prior to the start of the 2019 season.

A homegrown talent with NCAA Division I and professional playing experience, Gilliam played collegiately at Centenary College, where he was the career leader in runs, walks, and stolen bases, and was second in career hits. In 2003, he played professionally for the Shreveport Sports, and in 2004-2005, he played for the Gateway Grizzlies.

Gilliam’s coaching career includes being the head coach at two local high schools, Southwood and his alma mater Loyola College Prep. The head coach of the Southwood Cowboys from 2013 through 2016, Gilliam was the District 1-5A Coach of the Year in 2014. Prior to Southwood, Gilliam coached the Loyola Flyers from 2008 through 2013. He was the 2010 LHSAA Class 3A All-State Coach of the Year and the 2012 Times All-City Coach of the Year.

"Competing against the best is what competing is all about," said Gilliam. "This conference gives players so many opportunities to find out how good they can be. It will always be a challenge to win games in Region 14, and we embrace this competition and want players that are up to the challenge. We want to build teams that love to play hard and players that want to grow as people and in the game mentally. It's a process and structure to build a championship level program. It takes a lot of pieces and developments. We have a good structure in place with all of our coaches, and are steadily shaping and putting our plan in place for the future of BPCC Baseball."
