Andrew Mills' seventh inning home run propels Bossier Parish to a 9-7 win and doubleheader sweep of Brookhaven

DALLAS - Andrew Mills' home run in the top of the seventh inning propelled Bossier Parish Community College to a 9-7 win and doubleheader sweep of Brookhaven College here Monday. With the game tied at seven, Mills hit his second home run of the game, this one on a 2-0 count, which scored two runs and put the Cavaliers ahead for good 9-7.

Mills, a freshman from nearby Plano, Texas, went 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs. Mills hit his third and fourth home runs of the season in the game. It's the first time this season a Cavalier has hit multiple home runs in a game.

Hunter Shaw was the pitcher of record when the Cavaliers took the lead, so he earned the victory after allowing a couple of hits and an unearned run in the bottomo of the sixth. Zane Morehouse earned the save after pitching a scoreless seven. Morehouse did not allow a hit and struck out one to close out the game.

BPCC racked up 11 hits in the game. Mills, Bobby Lada, and Kanin Dodge all collected multiple hits for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers won game one over the Bears 9-3, and with the doubleheader sweep of Brookhaven, BPCC now owns a 31-16 overall record. The 31 wins are the most wins for a Bossier Parish baseball team in well over a decade. It is believed the last Cavaliers team to reach 30 or more wins was the 2001 Cavaliers, who finished the season with an incredible 46-15 record under then coach Jay Artigues, who is now the athletics director at Southeastern Louisiana University.
