LaBorde's homer and Todd's relief work give Cavaliers the 4-3 win

PARIS, Texas - Hudson LaBorde's third-inning home run and Casey Todd's outstanding relief pitching led the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers to a 4-3 win over Northeast Texas Community College in game one of a NJCAA Region XIV doubleheader at Chisum High School's baseball field here Sunday.

After the Eagles had tied the game at two in the bottom of the second inning, LaBorde belted a two-out home run in the top of the third to give the Cavs a 4-2. LaBorde's blast, his team-leading eighth homer, came on a 3-1 count, and scored Kanin Dodge, who reached on a double.

Casey Todd, who came on in relief of starter Will Hine in the fourth, tossed three scoreless innings, and did not allow a hit, while striking out three. Hunter Shaw recorded the last three outs to earn the save for BPCC.

Derek Chappel took the loss for Northeast Texas Community College. He lasted four innings, allowing six hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking one.

BPCC collected 10 hits in the game. LaBorde went 3-for-4 at the plate and Dodge went 2-for-4 to to lead the Cavaliers in hits.
