Collins, Mills lead Bossier Parish to 7-4 win over Northeast Texas

BOSSIER CITY - The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers got an outstanding pitching performance from Dylan Collins and a grand slam home run from Andrew Mills to beat the Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Friday afternoon at the BPCC Baseball Field.

Collins, a freshman from Colquitt, Ga., pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits, while striking out five and walking none to earn the win for the Cavaliers.

Leading 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh, BPCC second baseman Kanin Dodge drilled a leadoff double down the left field line. Back-to-back walks to Adrian Minjares and Hudson LaBorde loaded the bases for freshman designated hitter Andrew Mills, who blasted the first pitch he saw from reliever Hayden Shaddox over the center field wall for a grand slam home run and a 7-0 lead for the Cavaliers.

The four runs on the Mills homer, his second of the season, would prove very important as the Eagles scored four runs in the final two innings off of BPCC reliever Ty O'Neal.

BPCC racked up 11 hits in the game. Dodge, Layne McLin, and Will Doughty each collected multiple hits for the Cavaliers. Dodge, a freshman from Carencro, La., went 4-for-5 at the plate with a pair of doubles.

BPCC and NTCC will resume the series on Sunday, Apr. 7 at the Chisum High School baseball field in Paris, Texas. The doubleheader is expected to begin at 1 p.m.
