BPCC sweeps doubleheader from Louisiana College's JV with 5-3 win in nightcap

PINEVILLE, La. - Bossier Parish Community College took the lead late and held on to defeat Louisiana College's JV 5-3 on Monday at Billy Algood Field. The game was tied at three  in the top of the seventh when BPCC first baseman Hudson LaBorde belted a solo homer, his sixth of the season, to give the Cavaliers the lead. BPCC would add an insurance run later in the frame when Caleb Cleveland scored on Ty Dragos' single.

Jacob Gilcrease earned the victory on the mound for the Cavaliers. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking zero. Conner Martinand Trey Thompson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Lawton Lloyd took the loss for Louisiana College JV. He allowed three hits and two runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two. 

Bossier Parish got things started in the first inning when Bobby Lada scored on Kanin Dodge's ground out. Dodge started the game with a double. Louisiana College JV evened things up at three in the bottom of the fourth inning when.

BPCC tallied eight hits in the game with Adrian Minjares and LaBorde each collecting multiple hits.

With the doubleheader sweep of the Wildcats, Bossier Parish's record now stands at 17-8 on the season. The Cavaliers return to NJCAA Region XIV play on Thursday when they travel to Paris, Texas to take on the PJC Dragons in game one of a three-games series. The Cavaliers will play games two and three on Saturday, Mar. 23. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the BPCC Baseball Field.
