Bossier Parish sweeps doubleheader from Louisiana College Junior Varsity in Pineville

PINEVILLE - Bossier Parish Community College posted back-to-back shutouts, 13-0 and 6-0, in a doubleheader sweep of Louisiana College's JV here Monday at Billy Algood Field. 

BPCC pounded out 17 hits in game one. Ty Dragos, Zachary Lee, Zachary TrangmarKyle Jones, Hudson LaBorde and Will Doughty each racked up multiple hits for the Cavaliers. Lee paced the BPCC offensive outburst by going 3-for-3 at the plate, driving in four runs on a pair of doubles.

Trey Thompson was the winning pitcher for BPCC. He allowed just four hits and no runs over five innings, while striking out four to earn the victory. Jacob Gilcrease threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

In game two, three Cavalier pitchers, Andrew McPherson, Ty O'Neal and Hunter Shaw combined to toss a shutout. McPherson earned the victory on the mound for BPCC. He held the Wildcats hitless over five innings, while striking out eight. Shaw and O'Neal entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Leading 3-0, Bossier Parish scored three runs in the sixth inning to blow the game open. The rally was led by singles by Bobby Lada, Collin Kirsch and by Kyle Jones. Lee, Kanin Dodge and Lada each had multiple hits for the Cavs in the win.

With the doubleheader sweep of Louisiana College, BPCC improves its record to 5-0. The Cavaliers game with Hill College on Tuesday was cancelled due to inclement weather. BPCC's scheduled twinbill with The Complete Showcase (TCS Post Grad Academy) has been moved from the BPCC Baseball Field to Centenary College's Shehee Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
