New aluminum outfield fence added to BPCC Baseball Field

New aluminum outfield fence added to BPCC Baseball Field

BOSSIER CITY - Bossier Parish Community College has made some improvements to its baseball field. Over the last few weeks work crews have installed a new aluminum outfield fence at the BPCC Baseball Field.

"We are excited about the new outfield wall," said Cavaliers head coach Bobby Gilliam, Jr. "It's just part of process of continuing to build a solid program here at BPCC."

Work crews battled a tremendous amount of incliment weather since the project began in early January, but completed the project last week. The new fence runs from foul pole to foul pole, with the "batters eye" in straight away center field. The new aluminium wall replaces the old coated chain link fence, and is reinformed by steel standards.

According to Gilliam, the dimensions of the field did not change, and is still 314 ft. down the left field line, 315 ft. down the right field line, 365 ft. in the power alleys and 385 ft. to straight away center field. The aluminum fence is 6 ft. high from the foul lines to center field, where it doubles in heighth to 12 ft.

The Cavaliers will play their first home games on Saturday, Feb. 9 against Hill College. Game one of a doubleheader begins at noon.
